Pros

The university has access to many different research libraries and their librarians are willing to go above and beyond.

Cons

Many of the support staff are unprofessional. Human Resources needs to train everyone on common workplace behavior. Climate Change is considered a "controversial topic" which I find to be troublesome.

Pros

Great benefits (insurance, PTO, etc). Some great managers, depending on the department. Interesting work. Contributing to something important. Cheaper tickets to athletic events, if you're into that sort of thing.

Cons

Abysmal pay scale. Nonexistent raises and promotions. No recognition of past experience. Multiple layers of bureaucracy make it difficult/impossible to get things accomplished, particularly in the HR realm.
