Positive Experience - Great Campus

Pros

Beautiful campus, fun variety during the work day, fun coworkers and you learn tons about the campus and its resources! Long days, and a bit of a rigid schedule, but if you can make the commitment the summer goes by quick. It was a good learning experience to gain public speaking and leadership skills.

Cons

My positive experience may have been due to my direct supervisor being outstanding (who has since left). I'm unsure of the current NSO manager/supervisory team.

Pros

near beautiful nature. many students are thoughtful beautiful curious people.

Cons

salaries too low and never go up ( i was a tenured professor). Discouragement and misery reign. Least intellectual environment I've ever experienced. Deeply sexist and a pervasive undercurrent of racism (full disclosure, I am White). Salaries went down over ten years given the give backs to the state (vis a vi healthcare costs and retirement fund nonsense) and the workload only increased. Quite corrupt. Those at the top get more money each year and professors and staff do all the work. Professors couldn't even use the gym for free.
