Pros

There aren't many pros left to list off anymore. There are still plenty of amazing people working there, for now. That's if you manage to get on the right team in a department that isn't imploding. What used to be an exciting and vibrant workplace is now the same old corporate cesspool you'll find everywhere else in this garbage industry that is tech. New Relic used to be a wonderful place to work! The scale of the systems at NR is quite complex and could provide useful experience to someone who is looking for experience at a larger scale.

Cons

Lew's mask is slipping. I'm surprised to see his approval rating so high. He's not the lovable, down to earth guy many of us assumed him to be. The culture that drew such a diverse crowd to the company is now dead and gone. It's not just dead. At this point, it's being actively suppressed. Much like 99.999% of tech companies, they only pay lip service to diversity and inclusion. Don't expect to find your safe place here anymore. Remember when I mentioned system complexity? There's a twist to that. They recently "laid off" a large portion of their reliability org. Many of the SREs who got canned are absolutely amazing engineers and managers who had years of institutional knowledge. How stable do you think those systems are going to be now? Expect to see more uber corporate, Kool-Aid drinking managers hired on and promoted! Nepotism at its best. They don't value managers who actually care about and want to understand the people they lead. There are many managers who regularly target individuals and push them out. Everyone is burning out. Run. Don't walk. RUN as far away from this place as you can.

Watch out for the new CMO

Pros

Engineering, product, and sales teams are great

Cons

New CMO has brought in a toxic culture, fired many solid performers, and pushed morale to new lows. Those amazing New Relic ads you saw on billboards across San Francisco and the web? Yeah, the creative team behind that was fired. The marketing leadership that encouraged people to be bold? They were marginalized and seeing their careers going backwards at New Relic, decided it was best to leave. If you're a recruiter looking for quality marketing hires, look for Relics that started in 2015 or earlier. They'll probably be looking to leave.

Garbage Leadership -- PE has gutted this company!

Pros

None, literally nothing is worth working for this company.

Cons

Layoff 4/3/2024 confirmed! Leadership refuses to tell us how many people they cut and what their package was. Did webinar style firings so they didn't have to answer questions or deal with anyone. My guess is close to 300 to 400 employees probably more just knowing there was at least 1 person from everything single team I am aware of that got let go. Low pay -- especially for women. New PE has slashed any benefits, removed promotions and there are no cost of living increases anymore. Refuse to answer any questions about replacement for RSUs because there is no replacement for them and they just don't want to say that. Completely gutted entire C-suite to all India folks and are offshoring anyone and everyone they can. No one's job is safe at this company. In the firing all hands they specifically told us to not post on this site or blind or any socials about it.
