Spend all day on Teams meetings and chats, email, phone. Have to spend my evenings and weekends and company holidays traveling and doing the generative work that I was actually actually hired to do, no free time for anything but groceries and laundry. Recipe for burnout. Management attitude is “if you don’t like it, there’s always someone to hire who will tolerate it”. No increase in base pay or OTE despite horrendous inflation in recent years. I actually like the job itself but just not the uncompensated hours.

Management and process is poor at its best. Teams do not get necessary alignment with leadership and product managers. Leadership understands only a 50000ft level road map and stops there. The rest is on the engineers. Workload for engineers is so much that there is no such thing as a work life balance!
