Pros

Great people and wonderful atmosphere

Cons

They used to value their employees almost as much as their customers and after the economy crashed in 2008 things changed a lot done for the better but some for the worst. I was taught from day 1 that customer service was the most important thing and that we must do everything and anything possible to make our customers happy but then one day I didn't make my calls per hour and when they listened to my phone calls the only error they said they found was that by was too helpful and provided too much customer service. Mind=Blown

Good pay but ran poorly

Pros

Pay is good. They encourage you to grow in the company. Easily transferred.

Cons

Management has poor skills. They encourage you to grow but it's more about who you know and suck up to. They seem to hire almost any person. No matter their background or work performance. They change up the rules so often but won't run them by you and you'll get into trouble for not "following the rules". Little to no consequence for employees not doing their job which adds weight to your load. They let customers have their way, no matter the policy, so employees and management is never on the same page. I've seen customers threaten employees, use racial terms and/or act just downright disgusting towards employees. Management didn't step in to protect employees or security. Each new store manager cares less and less. The last one hardly left his office unless there were visitors. And little to no communication. I'll recommend this job but maybe a different location.

Pros

There are few pros, except a 20% discount for employees, which I rarely used due to the poor quality of their merchandise.

Cons

They treat their employees as if everyone is expendable. There is no consideration as to work schedules (it varies every week). There is so much pressure on opening new accounts, and it factors into reviews. It's hard to sell something that you don't believe in. Their tactics for opening new accounts are predatory. Some customers don't understand that they are opening a charge account and they are not given the terms (interest rate, e.g.). Nordstrom notes are a joke. Very few employees work 40 hours/week so that they don't qualify for benefits. It was a real eye-opener to the point that I no longer shop there.
