Great local culture hindered by Corporate guidelines

Pros

Truly great people who care about patient satisfaction and safety work for this company, and it's filled with kind, caring individuals who take their jobs seriously and work hard. I enjoy coming to work everyday and don't feel overly stressed even with a challenging workload. Decent work/life balance (at least in my role) and good health benefits. The facility itself feels brand new with top of the line equipment and aesthetics. Mostly the people who work here make it a worthwhile place to spend a workweek.

Cons

Most of my complaints are related to Corporate guidelines and HR policies, not the individual management here in Tucson. Absolutely terrible promotional/yearly pay raises, even if your job title or responsibilities changes significantly. Due to Corporate-directed cost cutting measures, NMC management frequently mandates non-direct patient care employees to use their PTO to take unplanned days off, which in the opinion of many employees (including my own) is offensive and insulting to force on employees who already receive minimal PTO hours per week. Local upper management do seem to want their employees to feel valued and supported, but it's hard to do that when the Corporate overlords that be put into place and enforce guidelines for measly yearly or merit based salary increases, forcing employees to take mandatory unplanned paid time off, cutting back or eliminating employee appreciation events entirely etc. while still clearly having enough capital to build an entirely new, top of the line hospital facilities in town, among other things? I very much feel like, despite being highly educated and experienced with a very respectable job title, like just a cog in the wheel that helps the big bosses get paid big dollars while I still struggle in a never ending cycle of being underpaid and underrewarded for overachievement. So many of us employees live minimally and conservatively but still paycheck to paycheck due to these CHS pay guidelines, when our qualifications and work experience/output clearly don't support that low of a pay grade. I enjoy my current role at NMC but would never work for a CHS facility EVER again, nor would I recommend a friend to work at a CHS facility for these reasons. Pros

Most of the workers who were with the company before CHS took over know what a good place this used to be. Pay rate reasonable for the job (but not for the amount of back stabbing drama brought on by infantile management). Was close to home for me.

Cons

Where to begin? I was originally hired to work three twelve hour shifts in the ER, within three days I was thrown into the Urgent Cares, working anywhere from four twelve hour days to five 16 hour days. I found the tenet of this company to be, the bigger a screw up you are, the more you’ll be rewarded Management Willy-Nilly changes policy to fit the situation, causing workers to get into trouble while trying to uphold the original policies. Management also tries to make it seem as though they care about the staff by doing things like randomly choosing one member of each department to have a breakfast meeting with the CEO, but then tells you what to say and not say when you are invited to go.)Management also routinely falsified employee files to make cases against good employees, to get them fired or written up, while doing the same to the lackadaisical ones, to keep them on staff. This was the first job I ever had where I felt no trust in the company I worked for. CHS management has only one goal: money money money. They do not care about their patients or their staff whatsoever.

Pros

Knowledgeable, capable staff. Excellent director of nursing.

Cons

Hospital is a shell of its former self. Understaffed. Old, broken equipment. Nurses underpaid. Greedy CEO, only taking from the staff, never giving back, They keep opening new hospitals around Tucson but can't even maintain their flagship hospital.
