Very short sighted company, especially at corporate level

Pros

They have a lot of HR people who do nothing all day except email fluffy newsletters about stuff no one cares about while avoiding the topics employees do care about.

Cons

Corporate dictates changes to BU's that make no sense other than some corporate guy will hit some short-sighted goal. Corporate does not listen to the BU business experts about why the Corporate edict will lose business & anger customers, and then corporate complains when it happens exactly like the BU business experts said it would. Has happened many times & no one in Corporate is ever held accountable. Ever. Medical insurance (in Massachusetts) is horrible. Bare minimum the law will tolerate, with the lowest-rated insurance company in the State. No employee stock purchase plan, The few rank & file who are awarded RSU's are given paltry awards (as compared to other places many of us have worked). Turnover is very high. Partly due to rounds of layoffs, then hiring sprees. The average tenure during my time at Novanta is about 2-3 years, with a long tail.

Building a collaborative workplace fueled by continuous learning and feedback is important to us and we’re sorry that hasn’t been your experience. We’re committed to addressing conflict head on and as part of our Novanta Way culture, your voice matters. Your experience is something we take seriously and isn’t what we set out to achieve. We operate Business Unit (BU) structures with leadership teams to empower autonomy. We prioritize a continuous improvement business philosophy, process mapping and root cause corrective action workshops to better understand where our processes are falling short and always want our teams to feel empowered to bring these challenges up to a trusted manager or HR Partner. We also encourage you to reach out to your HR Partner to discuss how you can participate in the various feedback processes we have. We want to ensure your experience matches the expectations we set for ourselves as a company.

Terrible

Pros

Not many if you want to live

Cons

This company works you to death and spits you out without thinking twice. The president is out of control and has no life, so she takes it out on her employees. She has lost many managers and claims it was do to poor hirings....really! Honestly, it's about her management style that people leave. Until she realizes it's on her shoulders the company will have the high turnover rate and unhappy employees. When I started at Novanta it had a score on glass door of 2.1, terrible and then we were asked to go and input our thoughts to improve the score. Really.....yep.... that was from upper management. Tells you something of their Integrity or lack there of. I have told people I would never have come here if I knew what this company was really like. STAY AWAY, not a good place to work at.

The sad story of Jadak

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Prior to the last 18-24 months, before the JLT took over, Jadak was a company people were fighting to get hired by and those that worked there supported each other, worked and collaborated with each other. Overall, it was a great place to work with great people to work with. That all ended when the new President took over.

Cons

Now, people are fighting to get out. Great people have quit or are looking to quit as soon as possible. The Jadak Leadership Team, JLT, is completely incompetent. They have no plan in place for anything. The environment has become hostile with a constant blame game going on, even where the President is actually telling unhappy customers that the reason for issues is that operations is incompetent. What type of leadership is that? That's right, that isn't leadership, it's cowardly and disgraceful. Because they are incapable of creating a sustainable plan on how to grow and improve, finance is just a bean counter looking for ways to cut costs at any price. What's concerning is that the clear story is not being told to Novanta Corporate because there is no way any CEO would tolerate this complete disaster. In short, it's a hot mess.
