Pros

It's a stable paycheck. If you do not have experience it's a place to acquire some, then move on to an employer that values their employees. Shareholders and executives turn record profits every year. Most of your coworkers will be nice.

Cons

Pay is abysmal. Year after year after year raises were withheld despite excellent performance reviews. Company is the epitome of the corporate entity (ie shareholder profit) being the only thing that matters. Executives have every incentive to keep labor costs low, hit their numbers, and cash in millions in stock. Management shares a similar agenda. Some of those nice coworkers will take credit for your good work and deflect their mistakes to you. They will be awarded by management with promotions. I would only work here if I were desperate. The stench of greed permeates. Really sad to see a once family owned company fall into becoming only concerned about the bottom line. But this is the price of going public. Those who are in can do no wrong. Cronyism at its absolute worst.

Pros

Well, I always got paid on time. My supervisor was a considerate and understanding guy, as I truly think most of the people at O'Reilly corporate are. Promoting from within is an honest policy that they actively engage.

Cons

Pay is pathetic. The environment is honestly like Office Space, and the building almost looks like a replica of Initech. The organization is filled with countless people who are content with staying in the same role for 10-15 years; no goals, and no drive. The organization thrives on mediocrity. Mediocre people working with mediocre (at best) technology for mediocre pay and benefits. I started at the organization immediately after I graduated with a business degree from a Springfield, MO university. I started my degree following four years of active-duty military intelligence experience. There is nothing to feel challenged by, and I started in a pretty good position on the ladder. I was fortunate enough to be able to leave after three months under circumstances that won't affect me long term, and I'm glad I did. I truly could not recommend this company to anyone that isn't desperate for employment. If you have options, this is absolutely NOT the place for talented and motivated individuals. I was lucky enough to work with a team of nice and helpful guys, but overall, the place just, well....sucks. If you are forced into Springfield and need a job you aren't going to be concerned about going away, or you're okay working for crappy pay, go for it..I guess.

Pros

none, seriously, not when compared to any other company.

Cons

The company values cheapness, not frugality, there's a difference. The culture is horribly old school. Very hierarchical and looks down on Millennial values like openness, real spirit of collaboration, technology (seriously they are so far behind it's painful). There is a very real "saving face" attitude at O' Reilly where people do everything they can to take credit for other people's successes and blame everyone else for their failures. They stay late (past 5pm) every day and look down on you for working 40hrs a week. If you are looking for an extremely mediocre place to work than O'Reilly Corporate is the place for you.
