Not a living wage.

Pros

Discount on parts is quite good which is a requirement given the low wage.

Cons

Low wage, extensive on computer training, a lot of it being common sense stuff that you learn during childhood. Some training not even relevant to the position you work in. Most vehicles used for deliveries are quite old and not in a very good state of repair/condition compared to the competitors vehicles. Drivers are not allowed to take a bottle of water with them in the vehicle which is quite bad considering the heat here in Texas. Cell phone use in the store is out of control, especially in the back of the store where the drivers operate. Some drivers do very few deliveries and lack flexibility. Work load falls onto other employees and management does nothing to remedy the situation. Work schedules change every week for some of us so it is very difficult to plan around the job. Also, if you are not scheduled to work on a Friday, you have to call into the store to see what your schedule is for the following week! Corporate like to push the team spirit slogan and how valuable team members are but, the bottom line is how much employees make for the company and the share holders.

Dead End Job

Pros

401K, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing

Cons

This is a dead end job with no potential for growth. The pay is horrible and you do not get the raises you deserve. The managers pass their responsibilities on to their employees and you do not receive a part of their salary for their work you complete. they do offer bonuses but you sell 15 thousand dollars worth of inventory and you receive 75 dollars in commission the following month.

Pros

Depending on where you work at, they will at least be flexible with your schedule. The first store I worked at (Pacific Beach, CA) they gave me hours but never a steady amount of hours, and then they had the nerve to hire another driver when they could have just gave me more hours! The second store I went to did the same thing pretty much, they did give me more hours (significantly), but then when I wanted more hours they hired another person, and I wasn't even asking for full time! Eventually the did give it to me, but that was ridiculous. Who can live like that?! It seemed they just put me wherever they needed me for hours. I don't see why they just don't give everyone steady hours? The hours wavered between 15-19 and then 19-25 hours. Really terrible especially at minimum wage and the amount of loyalty they expect.

Cons

They outright lie about giving you "competitive wages". I been a driver there for almost a year now and when I first started they only gave me $0.25 cents above minimum wage which was $9.75 at the time. You would think that being a driver to deliver for a company that's number two in the auto business would give you a little more than that. To me, competative would be something like $14/15 and hour. I am pretty sure there are other driving companies that pay way more than that. They say they pay by experience but considering my background and clean record, it can't be much. What they competing against? McDonalds?!?!
