Great Company, Benefits, and Opportunities

Pros

I had to transition companies in 2012 when I was as contractor supporting NEA-SCA. I had a better experience with OBXtek than my previous company, thankfully. While my Project Manager was quite busy and we played phone tag on occasion, when we got a hold of each other she never sounded rushed and always gave me her full attention/assistance. (Since then, her team has grown to assist with the workload.) Other than my PM, the various departments I was in contact with on an as-needed basis (HR, Payroll, and Travel) were always responsive to my emails/calls. The Travel POC was especially helpful and patient when I returned from TDY to Afghanistan and was even more swamped/pressed for time than before. The company went through some growing pains, as any company would, but adjusted and now offers more to its employees (automated travel system, more benefits options, etc).

Cons

As I mentioned in the "Pros" section, it was sometimes difficult to get a hold of my PM and we would play phone tag. That was a "con", but her team has grown since then, which was the solution! Also mentioned in the "Pros" section, the company went through some growing pains, which really isn't a con, but was confusing at times (pin down proper POC for something, etc). They adjusted, though, and it isn't an issue anymore from what I can tell.

Pros

OBXtek is a great place to work. I strongly believe in their mission and values. They offer great benefits, competitive pay, and great opportunities for growth. -Competitive Salary -Great work life balance -Benefits are better than any contracting company I have been with -Awesome holiday parties

Cons

Maybe a better training budget

Pros

I went from a very bad work situation to working for OBXtek. The difference was night and day. Better work-life balance, less stress and needless headache. I can honestly say this is the best company I have worked for in the last 20 years. Internal promotions are common.

Cons

It's government contracting. Not everything goes perfectly. Every contract is not a bed of roses. Rapid growth sometimes leaves support systems lagging. What I do see is that management is aware of issues and will directly involve themselves trying to correct things.
