A Company in Transition

Pros

Competitive compensation Fast to adopt new technology Fairly flexible to new ideas for a large company

Cons

Benefits aren't as good as most tech companies. These need to approve to attract top talent There is a bit of a culture clash between old guard employees and a recent influx of new employees. The new employees are largely from Interactive Intelligence and are pushing for change more quickly than some legacy employees are comfortable with.

Pros

KAR is innovating so many platforms so fast it's a great place to be. If you want to make a difference and be part of an awesome transformation that will make you an industry leader in the 'what's next' of technology this is the place to be.

Cons

If it's traditional IT work you are looking for this is not for you. KAR is pushing the envelope. Hard chargers need apply!

IT Management Suffering

Pros

KAR as a company is very employee focused, and tries to create a fun uplifting atmosphere. The "perks" of working at KAR are things like a fitness center, parking lot parties and lots of community focused events.

Cons

KAR almost tries too hard to bring everyone together as a team, and has lost focus of the real problems, which in Shared Services, are all in management. By certain leaders, employees are treated like numbers and nothing more. Management is afraid of making the bold moves required to resolve issues. Upper management doesn't get involved in issues at lower levels, so nothing gets done. Hiring from within simply doesn't happen. Everything is outsourced.
