Not a good experience

Pros

I do really like my coworkers but in a POW bond type of way. We're all in this suffering together trying to keep our heads above water and trying our best to help each other despite what the organization keeps throwing at us.

Cons

HORRIBLE upper-level management, financial problems, and "temporary" freezing of 401k matching and PTO. We had a company-wide meeting to discuss how we're 30 days away from running out of money and their solution was to implement these changes and lay off 100 people.

Pros

Large company. Experiencing phenomenal growth. Expansion will provide thousands of new jobs.

Cons

Throughout most of the company, pay rate is based on the amount of experience the individual has in that field. Not exactly the case in HR. Depends more on who you know. Annual merit increases are better at other companies. Parking is huge issue. You may arrive to work on time under normal circumstances, but the employee shuttle may get you there late.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback, but we are sorry to hear that you would not recommend working at OU Medicine. You are correct that we are a “large company that is experiencing phenomenal growth”. We are a team focused on improving health care in Oklahoma, as well as improving the lives of our team members. Across the organization, each person’s compensation is carefully calculated on an individual basis with regards to years of experience in similar job responsibilities, internal equity and market data respective to each specific position. Our Total Rewards team recently invested in a valuable market study tool that will allow us to review our pay structure and merit increases with national and state standards for all positions and re-align where necessary. This process is currently underway, and we look forward to reviewing the information that the market data provides. As an OU Medicine employee, you have a voice. We want to ensure that OU Medicine maintains an organizational culture of respect and communication, so I encourage you to address your concerns with your leader so those issues can be escalated and receive proper attention. Additionally, while parking is always an issue in a crowded downtown area such as Oklahoma City, OU Medicine’s shuttle system offers dedicated shuttle service for each hospital during peak-hours. OU Medicine’s leadership is committed to fiscal responsibility, collaborative planning and adaptability to change, and as such, we believe that our team members are critical to the success of the organization and our goal of leading healthcare. We value your input and will continue to ensure that policies and procedures related to fair practices are observed.
