Pros

Great place to learn. If you can work efficiently at OU, you can go anywhere. Teaching Hospital, so you always have residents there at the ready.

Cons

In order to advance you must be at the right place at the right time. It's for-profit and they do not care about employees over their bottom line. Less pay, more work. Lots of burn out.

Pros

Excellent benefits, paid administration leave, 20hrs PTO monthly, no weekends

Cons

Low start up pay, no yearly raise. I worked for 8yrs there & ended making $1.70 more than when I started. No overtime only comp time with stipulations when you can use it. 👎👎 Teaching facility but your paycheck don't reflect what you've taught. Communication is horrible, the right hand never knows what the left is doing. High turnover

Pros

Decent pay, good people in general. Respected within medical community.

Cons

Med-Surg floor/5:1 ratio too high, not nearly enough techs and the patients all require a high level of care. Accu checks on almost every patent AC and HS with many max assist patients is absolutely impossible to pass meds on time, chart CORRECTLY and PROVIDE QUALITY care. I feel so sorry for the patients. I was not able to provide the care I am very capable of because I was always forced to cut corners and make compromises in care. Also, certain areas require you to wear a TRACKING DEVICE! They tell you it is to monitor hand washing.hah! The device looks NOTHING like the small devices that are designed specifically for hand washing and do not work that way. The ones OU have monitor every movement and tell exactly where you are every minute..5 minutes here, 3 minutes here...the secretary informed me that I had been in the break room for longer than 7 minutes and accused me of trying to take a second lunch! Then when I was on lunch, (which you must CLOCK OUT FOR 30 MINUTE LUNCHES, ), the manager was able to find me on my lunch break in a quite place working on my homework ! I believe where I am on my lunch break is MY BUSINESS as long as follows hospital policy. That was the final straw...I went and hid the device behind a trash can and quit.
