Pros

Valuable and timeless concept; pay is usually higher in comparison to other start ups in seattle; beautiful building and location.

Cons

Lacks strong leadership- the current leaders are so weak and mediocre that have failed to earn respect and therefore allow poor performers to continue collecting a paycheck and distracting and demotivating those who truly care for the company and want to be there for the long haul. That is one of the reasons why many outstanding employees have left because that environment seems a joke- If Nick (CEO) really knew what happens down at that level he’d be disgusted too. Many of these one trick pony’s employees are there to party, eat all the snack and drink-technically living up to the “Life at OfferUp” hiring campaign they were once attracted to and fortunately for them , it didn’t disappoint . Work and what an employee is hired to do becomes the least of their priorities!

Pros

unlimited booze, food, PTO, and did i say booze?

Cons

Managers will hold a "team huddle" for ideas on a project, then pitch the entire idea as their own. Most of the management there, simply does not have a realistic grasp of what they are doing. You are shunned if you dont "drink the kool-aide." There is definitely a culture of favoritism and mental abuse. Most of the employees are often drunk and loud. If you are not a engineer, you are not respected or valued.

We take this type of feedback really seriously. We have many channels to talk to various people across the organization - including office hours with the anyone on the exec team. HR is also always willing to meet to try work these issues out. This is a collaborative environment. Ideas are great and we are all here to help bring to life great ideas.

Low to No Productivity

Pros

Have many nice colleagues, although some have left

Cons

Productivity has been low for over a year and is getting worse and worse. Many Staff/Senior engineers are leaving which further reduces productivity. It basically created a negative loop. Any significant feature takes forever to be developed.

Thanks for the review. The recent reorg has hopefully helped to eliminate some of your concerns. I encourage you to speak with your leadership team if you continue to have concerns about productivity. You can also reach out to me directly. I would be interested to learn more.
