DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY!!!!

Pros

If you have a stable staff who work together, you will have success.

Cons

Not enough payroll to run your store and maintain it. Constantly changing focus on pushing services. HR will run you out if your employees complain, whether it is true or not. Being the only salaried position means you will not have a work life balance. No additional payroll for filling online orders.

Pros

The medical and dental coverage is decent. But that’s it.

Cons

ALL STORE LEVEL.... Unrealistic expectations on sales goals, very little monetary reward for sales and or performance. Misleading bonus offers that are worded to give the company an out to PAY nothing to the stores that had an above average performance regarding inventory and/or shrink. No paid holidays. Constantly takes away earning opportunities such as lowering available hours for full time managers and /or associates in the name of low overall sales performance in the store based upon not meeting sales plan even though the store sales were above last years by a large percentage with even less customers then last year. The corporate management gets 6 and 7 figure annual increases and bonuses but the backbone of the company (store level employees) are constantly losing ability to earn and there is basically nothing to keep up morale other than the strong team (family) environment that is developed amongst the store employees. The potential for the overall success of this company is there but squandered by the greedy executive revolving door. ( Billionaire Boys Club) If the mentality of “EVERYBODY EATS” regarding the full time committed employees was adopted. The overall performance of each and every store would be greater and more consistent on a long term basis. Therefore making Office Depot a stronger more passionate company moving forward into the new workonomy model. Products and services sold at the store level that are supported by outside influencers such as tech support and business pro representatives needs to be executed consistently and is not and the store level employees weather it be associates or managers pay the price via loss of potential customer sat bonus or verbal abuse from a dissatisfied customer that will go elsewhere and further negatively impact the possible success of the store and the company as a whole. Very demoralizing to say the least.
