      Change in Leadership first step in OD Turnaround

      Pros

      Everything dependent on individual manager and group - may have lots of flexibility and accountability or might be extremely micromanaged. For the area, it can offer god challenging work with the right management if you keep your head down and don't listen to leadership.

      Cons

      Very reactive leadership - says one thing and does another - very interested in short term. Clear distinction between Officers and everyone else. Very little consistency across the organization as everything is silod.

      Office Depot used to be a great company to work for...what happened?

      Pros

      Office Depot is a large company with offices all over the US and the world so depending on what you do and where you want to do it, they probably have a place for you. They have a diversified workforce and support diversity in the workplace.

      Cons

      As with many retail based companies, they are always trying to cut costs. While I understand the reasons behind this, it is unfortunate when those cuts involve employee benefits. Our current health insurance coverage is the worst I've seen in my 10 year employment history with OD. The costs are increasing for insurance while the coverage is decreasing. Bonuses have been cut so much over the years that now only management has the ability to bonus. Office Depot does have a few employee acknowledgement programs, however, getting nominated or considered for them is difficult.
