Pros

Company events: The company schedules employees events during the year which allows teams to connect with their peers in person for a few days. It’s a good way to exercise team building.

Cons

Where do I even start. Pay is laughable, benefits aren’t great, senior leadership is full of big egos and folks who like to throw around big buzz words and have no idea how to actually manage a team. If you want job security, don’t look here. One of the other reviewers posted that the company operates on fear and that’s very true. There’s no encouragement for career growth, trainings, or self improvement. They want top tier talent for bottom of the barrel pay.

Incredible Candidate Experience and Great Place to Work

Pros

Recruiting Experience I'd like to start off by addressing the amazing candidate experience I had during the recruiting process. It is a huge testament to the recruiting team. The recruiter was incredibly thoughtful and always made an effort to connect with me after every round of the process. I felt like I was treated as a person, not just a candidate. This made a big difference in my decision to join OpenGov. Working at OpenGov Smart, incredibly hardworking people who are mission-driven and are passionate about what they do. There is a lot of good, challenging work to tackle here and it has been a very fulfilling experience so far.

Cons

There is nothing negative that I can say that is worth calling out. I tell myself that it isn't wise to expect perfection or a lack of "cons" with any workplace, but when you work with good people that you enjoy showing up to work with everyday, it makes the work experience 100x better. And OpenGov has good people.

Pros

-Some amazing people here. Depending on which team you are on, you may be working with the best of the best. -Really unique time to be in GovTech right now. -Vision is awesome, a Mission you can get behind on and an opportunity to make a real positive impact on the world.

Cons

-Product should be further along than it is. Tons of tech debt that causes customer issues that are constantly affecting othe orgs. This is something the company is actively working on, to be fair, but it's nowhere near where it should be. Yes every company in the valley has tech debt, but I've never seen this amount elsewhere, where it affects customers to such a degree. -Poor communication among the GTM orgs as well as b/w GTM and R&D -A lot of the time leadership is more focused on playing politics, playing the blame game and CYA than getting alignment. Then again, there are a few new leaders this year and last who hopefully will make change because it affects morale. Advice: throw out some (not all) of the top level gtm leadership who are incompetent (SE def exception) -You *will* burnout. It's just a matter of when.
