Pros

They have a lot of products.

Cons

1. 401k match is a total joke. I was part of an acquisition and my previous employer offered a 6% match. Opentext match is 1%. They "spin" it in the employee benefits packet to make it look better, but it is only 1%. 2. This is a TECH COMPANY, yet they no longer allow their employees to work remote! What kind of a tech company does that? You cannot preach the ability to work anywhere in the world and stay connected with iOT and yet you do not practice what you preach! 3. The Development team is short staffed and they are the one's running the show. I've seen so many deals get blown because Development doesn't have enough resources and basically gets to decide what they will and will not work on. How do you grow a company doing this? The sales people are working their butts off to bring in business and it gets turned down ALL OF THE TIME.

Pros

Vacation package is pretty good with a Christmas shut-down. But see Cons...

Cons

Even though they offer a great vacation package and holiday shut down, you'll end up having to work. The pay is awful and there is currently a 2 year freeze on increases. Too many acquisitions that are not carefully planned out on a business prospective. The CEO does not care about the workers, he only cares about how much money he and the ELT get. I'm making less per paycheck every year for the last 3 years due to increased employee contributions for benefits and not getting any type of increase. Our 401K match has been decreased to 1% - what a JOKE! And I have always received a 4 or better on my reviews. Also, they do not classify job functions properly. After being here for almost 10 years, they continue to classify my job function as an M1, entry level. I'm far from entry level but this helps them justify the low salary!! More work, less pay, that's their motto. Sad because up until 3 years ago, OpenText was a great place to work.

Pros

Work life balance is good depending on your team and management mentality. HR are running yearly career awareness weeks to reduce what’s apparent to be a high turnover. Package is standard with market but not in league with top players such as Oracle and Microsoft and not even in line with similar size orgs like Adobe, Symantec or BMC

Cons

Where to start. Well let’s talk career development. It’s seems there is little career opportunity for you unless you are directly generating revenue and making a lot of noise about it. Performance objectives and reviews are just a joke. Targets are fluid and by mid term your initial goals won’t be valid and even though won’t be updated. Feedbacks are not constructive as they lack evidence if they are even discussed. Employee pulse survey results are communicated 1 year after they come up!!!! Yearly merit increase and quarterly profit has nothing to do with your performance which isn’t fair for high performers as those with lower salaries will get a better increase than yours regardless of how both of you performed. Factor only for 40% of your bounce to be received regardless of your performance as well. LTE has even decided in their infinite wisdom to stop recognition program that awards nominated exceptional employees and replace it with emails to managers instead. The killer for me was the extreme gap hole between senior management and front line. There’s lack of direction and communication plus the quarterly mayhem obsession about results and figures most of which are results of senior management trial and error decision strategy and have nothing to do with individual contributions.
