Avoid if Possible

Pros

Intelligent People who are really awesome to be around both in and out office. Cross-department collaboration is relatively flat.

Cons

Company literally grows through acquisitions, which means lay-offs, significant time spent on determining product parity, mindless painful eye-stabbing processes to get anything done, and constant fires from leadership that require all hands on deck for initiatives that never take off the ground. Working for a company that was acquired by OT, a lot of empty/broken promises made by leadership, benefits that were reduced and/or redacted once acquired, and loss of vacation days. A cost-cutting environment means the potential for lay-offs on any given day, so don't bank on any job security here.

Employees are just numbers on a spreadsheet

Pros

Chance to work from home, good work/life balance.

Cons

No career opportunities, no chances to meet management, no respect for your work, you are just considered as an entry in a spreadsheet. Open Text is a black hole which keeps making acquisitions, firing the most part of acquired employees and making the acquired products dying.

An Okay Company

Pros

OpenTex allows for remote employees if you are hired through an acquisition (which many/most are) and they generally, for Marketing, don't lay off employees - they keep the marketers who can market/sell the products and are domain experts.

Cons

Lack of communication from the executive team. Very hierarchical. The Marketing team leadership in NA was a challenge to work with and there was competing agendas between the Global Marketing teams.
