No growth opportunity

Pros

Good advantages, flexible hours, nice people to work with. You can work remotely when needed so work-life balance is easier even if you do need the extra hours, which you definitely do even to get a measly "meets expectations" on your performance review.

Cons

Corporate message on values is completely opposite to reality. Development staff is considered cost that needs to be reduced, not as investment that makes money. Growth is exclusively through acquisition, no innovation from internal teams, only attempt to apply technologies at least a decade old which came from cheap acquisition to solve modern problems. Forward looking vision is actually frowned upon and only immediate problems of existing customers are considered having any kind of value.

Pros

Still many good people, including clever people who could create great software given the chance.

Cons

Constant distrust and fear. A culture of bullying. A lack of integrity and values. All that matters to most managers is trying to avoid the wrath of upper management, by instead telling them what they want to hear and manipulating statistics. A culture of lies and dishonesty. No one believes what we hear from above nor the statistics we produce ourselves. Repeated aggressive take-overs of other companies, followed by layoffs (since I am considered a "top performer" I am never affected, but many great colleagues have been):
