For starters, the pay is far lower than the market average. This is especially offensive when you consider that the CEO is one of the highest paid CEOs in Canada. Seniority can, and often does, mean an increase in salary by a few thousand but nothing commensurate to what the job requires. The biggest issue, however, is the people. Perhaps it's the tension everyone feels after experiencing so many back-to-back lay offs, but people here, as another reviewer aptly stated, seem to take everything personally. Additionally, several employees respond rather curtly/rudely when you approach them with a question regarding their work, even if you come across as friendly. Many employees are often on the defensive, and will either actively ignore your inquiry or respond rudely, going as far as complaining to your direct manager if they feel inconvenienced by your questions. There is a complete lack of cohesion between teams, often with leaders fending for themselves. This culture has trickled down to the average employee, and now the organization is stuck with individuals who only see themselves as just that; an individual. It can make anticipating collaboration an anxiety-inducing affair, and can make a good day feel miserable. Some people seem more immune to it than others. Having worked in companies where the poor management is often balanced out by amazing and generous peers, I'd say OpenText has the opposite problem and it can be quite draining.

CEO decides based on the algorithms in his head what he feels should or should not be paid. In the public eye he is all for DEI yet in the background he is astonishingly unfair. I've been here for over a decade and work with many departments. My team of engineers were cut out of large deal payouts and I've heard the sales people have similar experiences. Why am I here...I am nearing retirement but feel it important to inform people what is really happening. What is most unfortunate is how this damages relationships internally and externally, massive blow to morale that had been very positive, revenue takes a huge his as momentum comes to a halt, and gererally destroys what had been working in a company for holding back some well deserved payouts...? Yet it continues for over a decade. People ask about once per quarter...why is he protected?

It is progressively becoming worse and worse. Wether it is a bi-yearly layoffs, politics which mirror game of thrones or an executive leadership team that makes bad decisions after bad decision. The CEO only cares about his yearly bonus and will do anything possible to secure his bonus, nothing else matters to them. From the “open verse” to AI, strategy changes month on month with no long term vision. Stock price has continued to drop or stalled for months/years.. a lot of senior management sold their stock at the start of 2025, that’s tells you how confident they are in organization. The business is all about virtue signalling and doing nothing for employees benefits. From career weeks, to career development plans, the business has no interest in you or your goals. Every single thing that the business does is about appeasing the megalomaniac that is the CEO… senior leadership is terrified of upsetting them and losing their jobs, there are more spines in jellyfish than there are in Opentext leadership. In the words of the C’suite “everyone is replaceable” no company is perfect but honestly opentext exists as a bank to the CEO, you and everything else is disposable.

Layoffs are very frequent, and looks like the CEO is preparing move all RnD jobs to India.

Worse CEO EVER, most egocentric, wannabe, micromanager. Worse evaluation system for salary raise. Self centrist culture, you are on your own. No career opportunity at all
