Pros

Open to work from home when needed. Some good people work there. New hires are smart. Experienced workers know their stuff.

Cons

Young people are hired at very low wages. Older workers are being phased out. Employee morale is extremely low. Employees do not feel valued. No one but top execs make money here.

Pros

Great group of people to work with. Office environment was positive and pleasant until Vista.

Cons

Vista's culture is horrible. They do not care 1 ounce about employees or clients. It all about metrics and margins. To be a VP at this company must be great because they have so many of them and continue to add more. While they continue to lay off folks at various locations. The employees left in the offices have to deal with being hammered by them to meet margins. Charge the client more, work more hours but do less work for clients because we require you to do so many admin. tasks for corporate to run their metrics. Metrics meaning how to have less employees and charge clients more! They want to hire young college graduates with no experience that can pass their test. The older (over 30) employees are required to train young folks so they can eliminate the skilled workers and meet their margins. They believe anyone that can pass the test can do oil & gas accounting in 6 months or less. The clients want skilled oil & gas folks working on their stuff. Vista could care less. They want a young & cheap workforce, period.

Pros

It is a good place right out of school to get some experience and then leave. There is some possibility to move up but not without stepping on others and being selfish.

Cons

They motivate via fear and pressure. They expect you to work in teams but directly compare you to your teammates and fewer than half will get raises or bonus although all have done the same work. You will be expected to do way more than you are possibly able to and then you will be berated which will give them a reason to not give you a raise, your year end bonus or to justify firing you. The company is run strictly on a margin basis regardless of the good work the company has done to build a product, or the additional features the products need. This is a private company with nearly infinite backing and rather than grow a business they concentrate on quarterly margins because that's how the execs are rewarded. The performance reviews are such that a manager must put his team on a bell curve. If you are new, you will be rated against those with 5 or 10 yrs experience. Dont be surprised if you fall on the left side of that curve. That will be enough to not get your raise or bonus with everyone else - regardless of the good work you do in the rest of the year. Only get a job here if you really really need it. And then, use it to fund your job search for something better. Beware: 3 Product Managers left in January. One in 2010. Pay: They want you to have 10 years experience but will want to pay as if you have none while you work two positions for them.
