Pros

Good benefits. Nice hospital Free scrubs every year Raise every year

Cons

CNA are not appreciated. When nurses are in need, they will get double double pay, double incentive. But CNAs will get double pay and incentive. They appreciate nurses during nurses week for the whole week with backpacks, bags, & treats. CNAs do not get anything. I think we get a cupcake. For such a big hospital, pay is not good. Sometimes you get up to 12 patients. Most of the nurses do not help.

Pros

Bonuses (if you are one of the chosen), some of the administrative areas are well run and service oriented

Cons

Just chaotic with little planning or support to accomplish goals. The number of recently hired VPs and C-suite types that do not make it through their 2nd year of service before being the subject line of a “leadership changes” email is astounding. These are people who have qualifications and experience adequate to make it through the first year, but have to “leave PIH” the day the memo was written. They don’t even get the customary “left to pursue other opportunities” or “spend more time with their family” verbiage to say they were fired. I can think of 4 in the past year. Were they all bad hires or did they run afoul of the unwritten rule that right or wrong, you agree with the CEO? CFOs seem to be a favorite target. As a result of the excessive VP/C-suite level turnover, work and plans get lost and have to be recreated or scrapped . The end result usually has to be what upper management expects to see, whether or not those expectations are realistic and supported by the data.

Pros

Honestly the people I work with are really the only reason I'm still here, they make night shift enjoyable and are a great team to have in difficult situations.

Cons

Never really feel supported on night shift by management. No coffee or gift shop on the weekend for night shift cause the hours are shorter. They also switched benefits, it's now an HMO rather than PPO but we are paying the same amount for less. Pay is less than other hospitals, no dedicated vacation time everything comes from PTO which is also what they use for sick calls. Good luck getting your vacation request approved, it can be a rare event.
