Pros
Great products with huge potential
Cons
I would like to share my experience with Pop Mart for anyone considering a role there, particularly in Europe or the UK. I generally do not write negative reviews on platforms like Glassdoor, as I understand that every business has its ups and downs. However, in this case, I believe people deserve to know what it is like to work there and what they may face when applying for a role within the company. In its current state, the company does not operate like a structured or stable business; for anyone seeking security during a difficult time, I would strongly advise not to waste your time. There are no clear goals or objectives, and no defined strategy for how the business should operate or grow in the European and UK markets. Communication across departments is very poor, with little to no alignment between teams. This creates confusion, inefficiency, and a lack of direction in day-to-day operations. More concerning, however, is the lack of respect shown towards employees. The HR department appears ineffective in addressing the many concerns raised. There have been numerous complaints related to discrimination, lack of support, favouritisms, dishonesty, and unprofessional or rude behaviour, yet these issues remain unresolved. Much of the management has relocated from Beijing to London, but there are clear challenges when it comes to integration into the local working environment. There seems to be a limited ability or willingness to adapt, absorb feedback, or support employees effectively. In addition, there is a noticeable lack of understanding and appreciation for people culture, diversity, and inclusion. Initiatives and ideas aimed at improving the business are not encouraged or embraced, which is especially concerning given that the company is still essentially operating as a startup in Europe. It is difficult to understand the motivation behind relocating to a country like the UK without making a genuine effort to integrate into its professional culture. In the UK, values such as respect, communication, inclusivity, and professionalism are fundamental. Finally, based on what I have observed, there also appears to be a lack of sound judgment at a financial level. Considering the apparent absence of a clear strategy and direction, it is hard to see how the business can sustain itself in the long term. In my view, this will likely be reflected in its profit and loss performance over time. Overall, this experience reflects a company that lacks direction, accountability, and a people-focused approach.
