Pros

The employees were super sweet, and we all helped and supported each other as much as we possibly could. I enjoyed learning and getting small, gifted items from the store and becoming interested as a new person in each character, world, and product.

Cons

Management was the worst I've ever experienced. Super passive-aggressive, mean, and rude to customers, which means that we had to pick up the pieces afterwards. Everyone was constantly stressed by upper management and the corporation, with things that were hard to enforce in the store as well. They disallowed so many things and changed the rules every week, making the space hard to work in and alienating us from connecting with people and our coworkers. The amount of emotional labor and effort we had to put in for little pay was ridiculous.

Not worth the stress

Pros

A small number of colleagues were supportive and easy to work with. The brand itself has strong commercial potential.

Cons

There was no meaningful onboarding or structured training. New starters were expected to perform at full capacity immediately, despite limited explanation of systems, processes, or expectations. When support was requested, responses often felt condescending rather than constructive. Questions were met with impatience instead of guidance, which created an environment where employees felt hesitant to seek clarification. Management placed heavy emphasis on results while failing to provide the necessary tools, training, or leadership to achieve them. There was a noticeable disconnect between stated experience and demonstrated leadership ability. Communication lacked clarity, accountability was inconsistent, and expectations were unrealistic given the lack of structure. Despite positioning itself with a startup mentality, there was little investment in people development, training, or team morale. Benefits were minimal, especially considering the pressure and workload.

Toxic Workplace

Pros

The job itself is simple and you get paid break.

Cons

Terrible management with blatant favouritism towards certain members for inappropriate reasons. The management also pitches employees against each other which creates a very toxic workplace environment and a lack of teambuilding. Managements talks badly about other employees and employees talk badly about everyone, making the whole place absolutely miserable and negative. When you voice your concerns to management, the replies are flippant and ignorant. Management have power trips and will not communicate clearly to you nor train you properly for the job and will have the nerve to be angry when you ask questions or cannot do the iob to their standard.
