Pros

- get experience - gain knowledge about mental health and the severity of it - learn how to document progress notes according to DMH standards - see clients grow

Cons

- management doesn't know how to communicate with staff - pay is low for the amount of work you do - they try to add more responsibilities (ex: housing) with no compensation for it - it doesn't seem like all departments are on the same page when it comes to client care (ex: housing and treatment team) - clients can become difficult, seems like you're babysitting them - seems like management only cares about the amount of hours you bill for per week and not necessarily client care

Pros

Co-workers, CEU training opportunities, benefits

Cons

Case load and DMH billing requirements too much for such little pay. Little support, distant upper management, poor communications between programs/departments.
