Pros

There are so many pros. The culture is fantastic. The *people* are phenomenal. The work-life balance and flexibility is incredible. PagerDuty being a remote-first company on top of all that is the cherry on top. Good communication and teamwork are valued here. Everyone is always willing to answer questions patiently and without judgement. Incidents and incident reviews are truly blameless. That is unheard of in other tech spaces. There is a lot of opportunity for career growth here for engineers. There is a big emphasis on internal promotions. Engineering promotions are always well-deserved. Everyone wants to see everyone succeed. The benefits in general are great: very generous PTO and leave policy, RSUs and an ESPP program, 401k matching, generous HSA contributions, and more. The diversity here is unmatched for a tech company and equity/inclusion initiatives are noticeable and appreciated.

Cons

A lot of the things that made PagerDuty great are slowly being chipped away. I'm calling this out because I love PagerDuty and I want it to be better. We used to have a mid-year wellness week where every single employee went on a company-paid vacation, all at the same time. This was the single greatest thing. Everyone would brag about this to anyone who would listen. There used to be a wellness day every month (started during COVID) where everyone had the day off at the same time. Just like the mid-year wellness week, this ensured everyone was able to rest and no one felt like they needed to go online and catch up on missed messages. There are 5 fewer wellness days now. The mid-year wellness break and the many wellness days were so loved and are very missed. While we still have winter hibernation (this is now company-paid) and we have only lost one week total in company-paid (non-PTO) time off... it feels like two weeks total. We used to have two hackweeks a year; we are now down to one a year. Hackweeks encourage innovation and creativity; they interrupt the monotony of work. They spark new ideas and foster a collaborative environment. These are values every tech company should be championing. The highly sought-after and competitive internship program (CAP) was paused indefinitely. This was such an important pipeline for inbound talent and really put PagerDuty on the map as CAP was open to career-changers and not just recent grads. Pausing the internship program seems short-sighted. Our organization's internal convention was slated to be an in-person event but that was also cut and a hybrid model was attempted. If you were near an office, you were welcome to come in... if you were not, you had to attend virtually. This disparate experience left a sour taste in the mouth of a lot of remote folks who had no ability to visit an office, no travel budget, no opportunities to build rapport with coworkers. Layoffs in January 2023, which felt unnecessary and also short-sighted, have brought down morale further. We keep hearing "the macro" but it truly seemed that we did layoffs because every other company was doing layoffs at that time. The way it was handled was terrible, and I'm not sure morale has recovered since.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. We are thrilled to see your appreciation of our achievements around ID&E, culture, communication, career growth and progression and generous benefits. We are continuously assessing our Total Rewards Programs and policies to ensure that we remain competitive in the market, and do what’s right for our business. We continue to have competitive and generous time-off policy while preserving critical focus on business momentum during a busy time of the year. We continue to have our Wellness Day Program throughout the year, where we grant employees Dutonian Wellness Days to provide the entire company the opportunity to shut down and ensure all Dutonians have an opportunity to focus on their wellness, relax, and recharge. Additionally, we have HibernationDuty. HibernationDuty is when everyone at PagerDuty, with the exception of a small, coverage crew, is asked to take a much needed break each year. We want to allow everyone an opportunity to truly disconnect and recharge, without worrying about the emails and work piling up while away. We believe that this break is an effective way to ensure Dutonians get the much-needed rest they require and an opportunity to spend time with their loved ones. We operate in a Hybrid Environment, offering Dutonians flexibility. We encourage all Dutonians to meet in person on a regular basis that aligns with their team’s strategic goals. Additionally, we host company-sponsored “PagerDuty Pop-Up” events and team offsites across the globe to break down silos and bring our values to life. We believe this mix of options fosters creativity, relationship building, company culture, and belonging while giving Dutonians the flexibility they desire. The Pop-Up program is designed to give remote workers a chance to connect in person near their homes. Hackweeks are a great source of innovation and it's great to see all functions coming together to participate. We typically conduct Hackweeks twice a year, depending on priorities and the needs of the business. Our March Hackweek was a huge success! Thank you for your feedback. We are committed to creating an environment where all employees feel included, engaged and productive.

Pros

-PD Product is a good fit for SMB/MM -2020 was a blast. I barely lifted a finger and y'all thought I was good lol. quota attained.

Cons

-Never going to achieve success in the Enterprise -Woke CEO who cares more about how she looks on TV than the stock price. Maybe instead of dumping millions into political virtue signaling charity causes, you could have put BTC on the balance sheet in 2020. The stock price would be thru the roof today. Great job, Jennifer. -Share price going nowhere -Diversity quotas and race/gender trackers that would shock you. It's not just white men they don't want to hire.

Pros

Good benefits, decent comp, strong talent across teams

Cons

Read the critical reviews as they are very accurate. C-suite is absolutely flailing trying to navigate macro conditions and reposition as an enterprise player, causing chaotic and siloed behavior across many teams. Engagement survey feedback mostly ignored except for a few inconsequential topics, as if leadership will not accept that maybe they are the source of the core challenges of slow or non-existent decision making, little or conflicting prioritization and no alignment across Product and GTM teams.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We take the engagement survey very seriously and work to ensure that all feedback is read and considered as we create and implement our quarterly goals and strategies. As a result of feedback from our internal engagement survey we have made recent investments in Sales Enablement training within PagerDuty, aimed at the continuous improvement of how our sales organization engages with our customers. We also used survey data to prioritize how we get work done by creating a playbook of our company-wide norms and practices which will help improve our organizational efficiency and agility while also enhancing the onboarding experience for new Dutonians. We distribute key findings across the organization, ensuring we deliver this feedback to the leaders and teams where it is most valuable and actionable, and strongly encourage current employees to speak to their manager or an HRBP to ensure that your ideas and feedback are included in the process of continuous improvement.
