Pros

Tremendous autonomy and flexibility. Good company culture. Lots of ability to be creative and use whatever talents you bring to the table. You get to work from home, which can be a wonderful thing for those with families. Furthermore, you have have the chance to perform community journalism that has a real impact on peoples' lives.

Cons

Goals and objectives are constantly shifting. Company itself is not on solid footing. Very little opportunity for advancement right now.

Some nice people, some talented people.

Cons

Incompetent management, aimless executives, people running the company that have no experience writing news in their lives, way too much work placed on local editors, quality of product has dramatically dropped, will probably not be around very long, at least in any way it was initially conceived.

Pros

Gain a lot of good experience in digital media, friendly coworkers who help each other out, flexibility of hours, work from home.

Cons

Too many directives from corporate that lacks understanding of local issues and communities, relies too much on aggregation and fluff pieces instead of allowing site editors to concentrate on hyper local news. Workload too heavy for single editor, have to be "on" 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Poor salary, few employee perks.
