Pros

I used to work at Patch as a local editor and I came back to the company in 2014 during their reboot. I've been having a blast. I started as assistant managing editor and moved to director of social media and now I'm a video editor. The environment is one where you can really work on projects about which you're passionate, great ideas are listened to and everyone has a fantastic attitude.

Cons

We are a small knit group. Sometimes people are so busy working on projects that there isn't enough time to go over bigger picture concerns. That being said, this allows me to work smarter and take the initiative on subjects. It's definitely a Ask Forgiveness, Not Permission environment, which I like.

They have a great office with coffee and treats, plus fun evening events, if you're into that kind of thing. My direct superiors were great and always gave really good feedback.

Cons

Maybe instead of building a keg fridge into your kitchen you could have used that money for more job security for employees who were there as temps for 2+ years? I was a contract worker in a position that continually got overlooked for a permanent position despite the fact that I was assigned to a never-ending project and felt pretty shafted that the company basically prioritized putting a keg fridge in over keeping loyal employees.

This review is misleading because it is about the AOL Patch -- years ago, and pre-spinout. Sadly, there hasnt been a keg around since AOL days!

Cons

Management didn't seem to know what they were doing when it came to making the company profitable.
