Pros

You can make your own schedule and work from home. It's the perfect place for a self-starter. The salaries are competitive. And, most importantly, the employees are appreciated and treated with respect, which is a stark difference to most news organizations out there today.

Cons

It's a lot of hours. If you need to constant management and direction this might not be the job for you.

Pros

As a community listings collector at Patch, I helped establish directories in each town that has a Patch site. Work was simple, received addresses for businesses, talked to the owner, got information, took a few pictures and uploaded them to the Patch site. Got paid $12.50 per listing, so do the math as you could easily complete 100 listings or more within a week.

Cons

Dealing with grumpy business owners who understandable were wary of a "free listing" being a scam. However, as Patch has grown and gotten more attention in the mainstream media, some owners actually had heard of the site and were readily willing to be listed.
