Pros

Benefits, decent pay, Paid time off,

Cons

If you are a recent or future graduate I cannot recommend this job. You will be worked until you hit a breaking point. You won’t have time for anything outside of work M-F and be simply too tired on the weekends to do anything. The pay structure currently limits an increase in pay with no plan to provide raises for doubling and tripling your workload. You will find yourself doing the work of others who are making twice your salary. You will be tied to your desk for 8 hours a day on a headset and be expected to stay late to complete metrics that offer no advancement. You will be stressed and overwhelmed for at least a year, until you are either promoted to a position(that is just as bad) or you leave. This is a call center position marketed as account management. Paycom has good positions, this is not one of them. You will watch people in other positions get to participate and enjoy all of the great things paycom puts on for employees. You will not be able to attend due to the extreme workload. In 6 months, I had 4 different supervisor changes, moved desks 6 times, and was yelled at by clients for 8 hours a day. Do yourself a favor and be careful. If that all sounds like something you can handle: great! But be aware that the idea of doing this and actually doing this are two very different things.

Pros

The only pro of working as a Paycom Specialist II is the fact that you get paid to show up.

Cons

Where do I begin? This role is a nightmare. You are expected to handle hundreds of clients with different needs and issues, with only four weeks of on the job training through Service Academy. You are constantly on the phone or e-mail, dealing with angry and frustrated clients who blame you for everything that goes wrong with their payroll or HR system. Don’t call in because it will be your responsibility to find coverage for your emails. You have to learn and memorize every feature and update of the software, which changes all the time without any notice. You have to document every interaction and request in the CRM system, which is slow and buggy. You have no time to take a break or even go to the bathroom. You are always stressed and exhausted. You have to handle the work load for Senior Specialist that get paid more than you when they are out of the office but you get paid the same rate of pay regardless of the fact that you’re solving a Senior level payroll issue. Toxic culture of withholding information that could be used to improve performance but isn’t shared. You have to be the middle man between the tax team and the client, and deal with the confusion and frustration from both sides. You have to explain and apologize for the tax errors and delays that are not your fault and further explain to the client why Paycom does not have a client facing tax team.
