Transition Specialist Representative - Best Opportunity of My Career

Working at Paycom has been the best decision for my career. Having been with this company for 3 years, I have seen my role, compensation, and skills grow so much. Here are just some of the great pros of working here: - Growth in training and positions: if you want to move up into management or working with larger clients, all you have to do is express interest and continue to show results. Management does listen to what you want and they promote those qualified, quickly. - Feedback: if you want to change a process within the department then ask, come up with a plan, and find people to partner with. The department leaders will listen and work to improve those items. - Culture: the culture of each office is a little different. In my office, my manager and co-workers are all great friends and we are all very comfortable talking with each other and being honest through harder times. The culture of your office is what we all make it. If you're positive, you'll have an amazing time. - Self improvement: one thing I love about this position is that I feel that I am constantly improving. I do not feel that I have hit any sort of slump. In our role, we are working with new industries and clients all the time, which makes my job fun and challenging. I meet new people, feel comfortable with public speaking, am an organized individual, and feel like I have gathered a plethora of transferable skills for any role that I take in the future. We also work daily in teams with other departments, which have polished my delegating and teamwork abilities. - Compensation: in 3 years, I have seen my compensation increase over 5 times - well above industry standards. Even living in a city with a high standard of living, I have no problems saving money, having the life I want, and investing with the salary I earn. - Benefits: 401k match, extremely cheap health insurance, paid maternity leave, etc. - Work/life balance: this is a really important point. Work/life balance is what you make it. There are people who can get overwhelmed or feel like they are overworked in this role. It's really on you to create your appointments and build your schedule to your needs. I give my clients expectations that work for me. I work 8-5 and have lunch every day. If an employee doesn't, then that's a choice that they are making. There are exceptions here and there where I will work an extra couple of hours in a day, but nothing consistent. My weekends and nights are mine to focus on my family and hobbies. - Opportunity for travelling: our department travels 3 times a year for corporate training for about 3 days at a time. Corporate training is a really great time to meet and see other TSRs from around the country and get to learn together to improve in our role. You can also have the opportunity to travel to other clients if you want/ask your manager for the opportunity. In 3 years, I have only taken 2 clients that were out of state and have made some of my best friends in corporate training from surrounding states. - Recognition: everyone is a little different with how they like to be recognized for a job well done. In my time here, I have received so much recognition that I feel very valued here. Never in my career elsewhere did I feel that. You receive awards for hitting milestones, weekly shoutouts on our department call if you have a client implementation success story, etc. A great move for retention. I honestly love working for this company and don't see myself going anywhere else, because I know I can still grow here and meet all the goals that I set out for myself with this company - both personally and professionally.
Cons
- Driving to clients: this can be very different per city. I'm adding it as a con because it is something that people should be aware of when they are choosing to come and work for Paycom. In my sales city, I travel an average of 30 minutes to an hour a client one way for a meeting. I take meetings on-site Tues/Wed/Thur. However, in some cities this can be a much longer drive. Paycom does reimburse your gas for longer drives, as well as provide a car allowance that's very generous to compensate for this. Most client facing roles for project managers have a similar requirement, though. For me, it's a nice ride and I use that time to listen to podcasts or the like. - Promotions can require moving: there are limited career paths within a sales office. Typically to go into management, a TSR has to move to another city/state, unless their manager moves/resigns/gets promoted. I am unable to move to another city, so my career path is limited. I still have a great opportunity to work with larger clients and increase my pay. Hopefully in the future, there can be career paths that could be remote.
