Pros

$4 lunches and $1 Employee Only Health Insurance

Cons

Don’t be tricked by positive reviews or awards this company has won. Once you’re in the doors and layers of the onion start to peel back, you realize it’s a dark place where micromanagement is glorified and trust is non-existent. The culture is poisoned from both the top down and the inside out. Long standing employees feel trapped to stay, and start to turn into shells of their original self due to self preservation. Meanwhile executives make decisions based on fear of the narcissistic, uneducated, little man who runs the show. (Now 2 of them who are duking it out to be leader of the slowly dying company) Overall this place is kind of like the state of Oklahoma, of which its headquarters are located. It’s stuck in the late 90s and doesn’t know what quality looks like in a workplace in 2024. Management tactics are outdated, the facility is dark and grim, internal tools are poor, the talent is stifled by chain of command and policy, and the software itself is losing traction due to poor service of it and a disconnected founder making the calls.

Pros

Benefits are phenomenal, but that’s about it. Get ready to be overworked and stressed!

Cons

-requirement of weekly 6 hour ‘best practice’ meeting where you are expected to go on site for 6 hours and upsell. Super technical and you get in trouble for missing any (even though most clients decline them) (everyone dreads them every week) -micromanagement from managers and directors -everyone at paycom is terrified of their immediate supervisor -extremely expensive software -Clunky product that is difficult to learn and isn’t intuitive! When I asked for help, you are sent a 200+ page setup guide pdf and told to go from there. -long days with tons of driving -too high of a meeting quota (8+ in person meetings from Tuesday thru Thursday) -awful company time off (no MLK day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Juneteenth, ect) -backwards policies and next to no diversity hiring (old school Oklahoma based company)(only ONE manager is a minority) - Horrendous support from the specialist side of the house means you are often doing more customer service than sales even though this is a sales role. -This place has INSANE turnover. All but 2 of my original team has been fired or quit. Clients notice this turnover as well as they have to meet a new rep every 6 months. - Clients are starting to figure all of this out and are leaving in droves

Pros

If you do get lucky and are able to land some big sales you can actually make good money, however it generally boils down to luck and territory. Everyone they hire are good reps, and around 80% are fired within year one

Cons

Easily the most God awful place I have ever worked in my career. If you're looking avoid the 5 star reviews they're pressuring employees to make. They keep their numbers up by making people leave good reviews. Its commonly known in the sales world how ruthless and cutthroat the sales division is at Paycom, its a common joke even amoung those still in training anytime they do anything they're probably getting fired. I would recommend working here if you're willing to sell your soul to make money. You'll work 60 hour weeks at an absolute minimum, if you don't you'll be fired quickly. The product is easily the most expensive in a majorly commoditized market so you will have a very tough time selling. Paycom has a very bad rep in the space as well, mainly because they put so much pressure on reps they're forced to engage in high-pressure sales tactics and unethical behavior I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone ever, don't drink their Koolaid. If you're good at what you do you can make plenty of money at plenty of other companys.

We recognize the hard work our sales reps demonstrate and understand this role may not be the right fit for everyone. Success in sales can often require grit and extra time, but we encourage employees to collaborate with their teams to create a balance that best fits their needs. With this in mind, we have worked hard to cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment for all offices. We also welcome feedback and offer several avenues for employees to share their Paycom stories, including sites like Glassdoor, but our policy is not to incentivize any individual to leave a review. If you feel comfortable, please reach out to our HR team at hrmgmt@paycomonline.com, so we can learn more about your time with Paycom.
