Terrible Experience - Cult-like

Pros

High base salary for sales, big opportunity to make a lot of money. (if it's worth sacrificing work-life balance and your sanity.) Good job for someone who can handle a lot of stress (with a lack of appreciation) and is just money focused.

Cons

Paycom has a very cult-like feel. I personally felt unbearable stress. Our manager treated everyone terribly (probably because the manager was also under unbearable stress) and the resources you are given to make it through are extremely limited. Everyone is stretched way too thin. I used to be required to be at the office starting the day at 7:30 - better be there 5 minutes before 7:30 or get reamed out - and would stay until 7:30pm minimum, most days later, except Fridays. Once home at night, I was expected to do additional research on my accounts, practice role-plays and record myself, update my Paycom system, and prepare my drops/mailers for the following day. I would also regularly get calls from my manager past 8pm. On Sunday, you're expected to 'prepare your week' which takes hours. Even though my coworkers and I couldn't believe what we were putting up with, we were all absolutely terrified to say anything about it. Even now, I am afraid to write this review, but it needs to be said. I tried calling HR anonymously, and they refused to give any advice without knowing my full name - felt like they were trying to rat me out so I gave up on that idea. It's absurd to read all of the "Great place to work!" exclamation point reviews. From what I've gathered, many reviews are written while people are in their training class and haven't experienced the work yet. You'll read other reviews on the true cult-like nature of Paycom if you dig through the "Great!!!" ones. Yes, you can make a ton of money, so if that's what you're going for - definitely consider it. But, this job and this management can really break you down. I did well while I was at Paycom and still dreaded/feared every day. I couldn't wait to get out of there. It feels great to have left it in the past, and yes, you can make as much money elsewhere.

While we always understand that the high demands our sales positions entail will not be a good fit for everyone, we would like to learn more of your experience. Hopefully now that you are a former employee, you feel comfortable contacting HR with more details. Please email Chanse Moucka at chanse.moucka@paycomonline.com so we may look into the matter further. We are proud of our reviews and we feel many of our employees are more than happy to leave positive reviews of their own volition to share their great experience at Paycom. We wish you the best.

Pros

Super affordable health insurance that even covers mental health services. Some amazing people to work with at the company.

Cons

Zero organization when it comes to projects, however it is hard for things to stay organized whenever you can hardly keep project managers hired. Even then they still do little to lead meetings. People are hardly ever on the same page because lots of communication is rarely put in writing. Everyone is burnt out from being overworked. When upper management wants something done they want it done ASAP but don't give teams enough time leading to faulty items being put out but then they still get mad at teams even though they didn't get enough time. There is almost no work life balance if you are put on a team that has a spotlight on it. There is a reason why most new hires are recent college grads, everyone else in the area knows better. Pay is also not great compared to other similar jobs. No hybrid options, zero flexibility, and you will get nickel and dimed for PTO for something as simple as a dentist appointment. You will also be micromanaged in pretty much every aspect of your job.

Pros

- Great team members - Great TL's - Great inner team atmosphere

Cons

- Horrible Management - Treats Employees horribly - Lies to your face and then gives other departments incentives to give positive reviews on Glassdoor to make up for the hundreds of people that are going to give negative reviews because of what they did - Acts like it is our fault that we need to return to office, after they push insane deadlines, promise we aren't going back, lie to new hires, brag about bringing us back saying it's for the best interest of the company when they are putting employees in terrible positions choosing between leaving the company or driving over an hour everyday to work - Uses a confluence page to allow Employees to express how they are feeling and then uses a copy and paste response to every comment and tells them to reach out to HR instead of handling it themselves since they are the ones who made the terrible decision
