Pros

Pay, my team, and the culture we had before recently

Cons

Suddenly, over the last month my job has gone from something I really love to something that keeps me up all night. My bosses come to me every single day telling me I have a new responsibility that doesn’t match what I thought this role was when I applied. I’ve so overwhelmed with getting pulled in multiple directions and I can’t give my team the support they need. Nobody can explain where this is coming from or why. Everyone is afraid to speak up and we’re actively being told that if we complain or post Glassdoor reviews we’ll be fired. My peers are telling me I should be looking for a new job. What’s happening paycom??

The most stressful job I've ever held

Pros

The benefits are fantastic and the $4 lunches are pretty swell. I made some cool friends working here.

Cons

This job might be right for someone, but boy was it not for me. They expect you to juggle dozens upon dozens of client emails and phone calls. It would be one thing if you just had to care for your own clients like the recruiter promised, but you've got to deal with literally everybody. You will also come out of training deeply unprepared and have to dig deep for answers to client questions, and the client may grow impatient waiting on you. You likely won't have it all finished by the end of the day, and you'll probably have an unreal number of tickets to follow up on because the departments that deal with the most important questions are not client facing and take their sweet time. If you've got an iron constitution and think you can handle all this responsibility, go for it. As for me, I will keep looking for something less stressful.

Pros

Paycom has great benefits. I have genuinely met my people here. I love all my coworkers.

Cons

Upper management does not listen to their employees. They send Gallup surveys semi-annually and they ignore the feedback. They pretend like your feedback is meaningful but they won't listen to what employees need/want. They do NOT address any real concerns. In previous years, directly before Christmas, they have pulled all of the development department into a zoom meeting to discuss company revenue which is always 30% or higher in growth, and then proceed not to say Happy Holidays or this year we want to share the wealth by giving bonuses, but thanks and that's it. This has been repetitive for the last 3 years at least. 2020 was a rough year and our leader Chad told all development leaders in a face-to-face meeting in the Paycom parking garage in 2021 that productivity was beyond what it was for in-office work and we would be in a WFH setting permanently. Two days ago we were served with a company announcement 1 hour after another, starting with supervisors, followed by Team Leaders, followed by the remaining members of the development department we are expected to be back in-office full-time starting in January. Since we had all clearly been lied to previously this made it extremely difficult to put on a game face and reason with team members. As a leader myself, I am disappointed in the little time that I was given for such an announcement. I was ill-prepared to have this difficult discussion with my team. I do not approve of the manner this announcement was handed down moreover do not appreciate the disrespect. We are humans. We have lives outside of Paycom. Work is a huge factor in all of our lives. Work accounts for over a third of how our lives are spent. We often plan life around work. When the original announcement was made about permanence people made permanent decisions that include expanding their family (whether it be human kids or animal ones), purchasing homes in further locations, and choosing Paycom over other employment opportunities. There were people that had just accepted offers; currently, in their second week of training with the impression that WFH was permanent to be told 2 days ago, that is all changing. Daycares are closed for the holidays and waiting lists are long. The inconsiderateness of this company is alarming. I think it's just cruel to do this right before Christmas. All trust that I had in this company is shattered. I truly believed that I would spend the rest of my life serving Paycom. I have been employed for almost 8 years and I have slowly watched Paycom slip on showing that they care about their employees. Need even more proof they do not care? They are only responding to positive reviews on this forum. I can no longer in good faith recommend this employer.
