Pros

great health benefits, vacation time, personal time, etc.

Cons

Very demanding, between all the tasks and having to do excellent customer service with one person maybe two everyday is not very realistic. I feel the /'higher ups" are very unrealistic with their expections and goals for certain stores. one size DOES NOT fit all stores. they say they look at the the stores differently based by traffic flow, area, and competiton stores but if they did we wouldnt have half the of the workload problems we do now. the need to go back to the drawing board and figure out how we can get the work done right without killing oursselves in the process.

Pros

Sometimes it can be a very laid back enviroment depending on the store that you work. But other than that it's a horrible place.

Cons

Everythings a down side. LOW Pay and they expect you to work like dogs. They do not care AT ALL about there employees.

Pros

Benefits are good, often better than other employers The job/labor itself SHOULD BE fairly simple Discount is 30% off regularly, 50% off once a month

Cons

Expectations of associates do not match pay/rewards given. Raises were recently cut in half, and pay is not equivalent to the amount of work associates are required to do, nor the time in which the task has to be completed. The company focuses on the negative, not the positive. Threats and intimidation are tactics frequently used when a store does not produce sales, traffic, or customer satisfaction survey results desired. Expectations are unrealistic. When busy, it is impossible to get to everyone because coverage usually isn't great. Why? Payroll is HORRIBLE. Despite the fact that Payless has stayed on top in a recession and was never in danger of going under. Not saying that C-SAT calls and conversion aren't helpful, but they are highly SUBJECTIVE and therefore should not be emphasized as much as they are. Especially when there is no reward/praise when the store and associates do well. Company often opts to hire outside the company for upper management positions. Advancement is somewhat possible, but you are most likely disregarded if you aren't wiling to relocate or even if you wish to go back to school. The company seems to frown upon bettering oneself. Feedback and communication between corporate and store level is terrible. Comparable to the Wizard of Oz, orders barked with nothing to back them up. It is degrading to receive tasks with little coverage and time to complete them, while upper management has seemingly no experience at store level. Corporate is very greedy and stingy with pay. Considering how well the company is doing, associates are grossly underpaid.
