Pros

Great Benefits, PTO, and company sponsored events . You will get a small idea of what a sales job is.

Cons

I have been here for over a year and have consistently produced above my quota currently at or above 200%. When you go through hiring process they promise free PTO great atmosphere and a great time reality of the matter is that this place isn't what it was a year ago. The atmosphere isn't what it once was. I understand changes needed to be made to make the department more profitable but the Idea of work hard and play hard is completely lost. They no longer know weather it is more important to set appointments or focus on revenue. The outside sales force would refuse to go on the appointments set by our department and we got the short end of the stick, because it is impossible to generate revenue when you don't have the support of your sales force. THIS IS A COLD CALLING JOB!!!! DONT LET THEM PAINT A PICTURE THAT ISNT TRUE. You will no longer leave early no matter if you preform no additional incentive if you become Senior or tenured senior. Everybody is on the same playing field and you have to deal with the fact that nobody else in the company takes this Department seriously so promotions are hard to come by.

Thank you very much for your feedback, and perspective on our ever changing and growing organization. The role of a National Sales Support Representative is extremely important to the health of the overall company, and NSS provides the outside sales force with many of its most valuable leads. Thank you for your feedback regarding career pathing as well. Internal career growth and development is at that the top our initiatives, and while I am disappointed to hear you did not feel you had ample opportunities, please be assured that we are working to change the perspective of internal career growth. We are rolling out a career pathing program specific to NSS and launching initiatives through our internal community feed to cross collaborate with people in all parts of the organization as well. I really do appreciate you providing this feedback, and would be happy to discuss in more detail if you wish. Feel free to reach out at KGrimaldi@paylocity.com

Pros

Growing company with plenty of growth opportunity.

Cons

Stressful times await at this time if year EVERY year, especially for client-facing staff. It’s understandable that you wouldn’t want to staff for YE throughout the year, because the volume of work isn’t there all year, but it makes for a very stressful few months. The volume of clients gets to be unmanageable for a 40 hour work week, and OT requires approval. This time of year, there is no work life balance, when you actually want it the most.

Pros

Here's the key to getting promoted here in a product role: Suck up Go to meetings, act like you know what you're talking about Start talking about "all the customers you've talked to" Pull up random metrics in meetings and talk about how you got this from customers Say that customers love this idea Repeat over and over for about 6-12 months In meetings, say you learned a lot from all your failures Go to meetings, tell people about your failure and things you probably learned Celebrate your failures Repeat, repeat, repeat You dont need a strategy, actually need to talk to any customers or need to be successful Oh and make sure you let people know you're agile theres no product strategy, but that doesnt matter

Cons

it'll probably take a bit of time, but for some it can be 6-8 months

I'm sorry your time at Paylocity did not work out and hope you have found a better fit. The key to getting promoted in a product role at Paylocity is to work exceptionally well with a small team to deliver against unmet customer needs again and again and again. Taking ownership, having a well-formed point of view and the curiosity and humility to test it repeatedly in the name of serving our customers are key indicators for us. It is definitely not an easy job but one of the most important roles we have. -- Ted
