Great company, horrible boss

Pros

There is excellent work/life balance. I was able to work with a great team of people and learned a lot. Although I worked remotely, I found myself working directly with people more than I have in office settings. Paylocity has an excellent product and it was great to be a part of it. Senior Management (VP and CEO) were great. Mid management, not so much.

Cons

The statement about people not leaving a company but leaving a boss has never been so true for me. I am sure other managers were better, but within the technology development side, management was quite bad. There was little discussion of true career development nor what the future really had in store.

Feedback is a gift and we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with yours. I am sorry to hear you didn’t have the best experience with your manager. We are committed to helping employees grow their careers, and encourage all employees to own their career development. We also are committed to enabling managers to facilitate career discussions and helping their team members realize their career goals. Our business partners in HR are a resource for employees to help with these types of questions, and provide guidance on how to have career conversations with managers. Finally, I am always available to help as well.

Pros

Many options to work remotely.

Cons

Managers are not trained in 'management' Issues are fixed with Band-aids rather than solutions People are promoted based on likability rather than ability If you disagree with management, you are seen as a problem rather than trying to make things better.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Your suggestion is timely as we are currently working on a management training program for the company. Please continue to provide your feedback as it is important for us to have a pulse on the organization. There are several ways to provide feedback internally as well, including a survey tool on ESS or through your HR Business partner.

Pros

NSS is truly something special!! Great environment to work in with a TON of support. Management is experienced and has extensive knowledge to help guide you to success!

Cons

The job is what you make of it. It is sales (cold calling) You know what you're getting yourself into. You cant be afraid to be told no. The most determined people are the most successful. This isn't necessarily a con but just be prepared to work really hard if you want results!!
