Pros

Lots of free time, lax sales quotas, and a handful of incredible people scattered throughout the organization.

Cons

Culture ranges from nonexistent to very poor. I constantly felt like I was on an island; management made me feel cut off from their incredibly valuable technical resources, and I was not able to brainstorm, strategize, or develop relationships with any of the sales engineers. Management, at times, seemed to care far more about the number of cold calls I made in a week than the opportunities I sourced. Recruiters said there would be sales leads coming in, yet I never received a single one in 3 years of working there. Virtually no growth path. Atrocious Salesforce hygiene. No professional development opportunities. No emphasis on actions to improve culture or any DE&I groups to join. Their product training and communication of new features were highly lacking. I continuously requested training, yet management took no action to provide this. Reps are able to stay on board with high base salaries for years without producing anything. Others were heavily micromanaged. Your experience was very dependent on who your manager was. Benefits appeared to be standard/decent, but a lot of the PTO did not roll over, maternity leave was far below average, and there was no 401k match.

Pros

Paymentus has the three things I look for in all great companies: 1) An exceptional executive team with a strategic vision to lead the company to success 2) A product that I believe in and one that I would be happy to associate with my personal brand 3) Employees that are driven, passionate and accountable for how their actions improve the company Paymentus is an amazing company, where the opportunities to learn and have an outsized impact on the company are unmatched. There is a very supportive culture and team members work hard to make sure colleagues have all of the resources and knowledge to succeed. This final point will seem cliché until you work here and experience it for yourself. The CEO cares about the success and growth of each employee at Paymentus. Aside from continuing the company’s growth, the biggest concern of our CEO is the happiness of Paymentus team members and his actions show that he wants his employees to be proud that they work at Paymentus.

Cons

The double-edged sword of the company’s success and rapid growth forced Paymentus be responsive instead of proactive with hiring and processes improvements in some groups. It seems like the executive team has identified those issues and is actively working to help those teams.

Control over Collaboration, Leadership and Favoritism

Pros

Really nothing positive to say at all

Cons

Inconsistent treatment of employees as some have special privileges, while others do not such as working remotely while living only a few miles from the office. Employees are expected to accept decisions without question, and many are afraid to voice concerns because they fear retaliation or damage to their careers. The return-to-office mandate is another major source of frustration. Requiring employees to be in the office four days per week should not be described as a hybrid work environment. The company successfully operated remotely during COVID while continuing to grow and deliver results. The physical presence is necessary for collaboration rings hollow when many teams have already proven they can collaborate effectively regardless of location. physical presence. The Implementation organization previously had strong leaders who trusted their teams, encouraged professional growth, and created a positive culture. Since leadership has reverted back to one individual with close personal ties to the CEO there is is constant berating of employees leading to a toxic, hostile work environment. Within another area the leadership team is allowing outside partners to drive the business and harass and berate employees. The leadership team does not push back or support team members. People will not address concerns with HR as they are afraid and HR does not have the power to do anything.
