Pros

Decent benefits. 401k match. That’s about it. Glassdoor is making me write more words but I don’t have anymore pros.

Cons

When I first started working at Pen Air I was so happy to be working for a company that was so team oriented and to work with other people that actually care about your well being when I had first started. All of this quickly faded once I was there 6 months and I was able to get the real picture of what Pen Air was all about. Pen Air is a very cut throat place to work. It seems that the standard is that of the executive team is done with you or you don’t fit into their mold they will kick you to the curb. It doesn’t matter what position you hold, unless you are an executive, your job is not safe. I live in constant fear everyday that I will be the next one to go just because someone on the executive team or one of their minions doesn’t like me. I am looking to “seek excellence” elsewhere because living in fear of your job security everyday is no way to live. I wish that someone would realize that the problem is the CEO and the other executives. They should be held accountable for THEIR actions but instead they put blame or focus on other employees underneath them.

Pros

The Credit Union the way it was before this administration. Longevity meant something. People helping people not trying to look good in front of the cameras.

Cons

Hiring people from the mall and send them through Teller training and MA training and placing them in a branch. Ludicrous practice. Employees that are loyal, hard working, dedicated and know how to operate a branch and aren’t given a chance without over a year of training. No wonder why only one person applied for the branch manager program. The way the managers are treated with the micromanaging that trickles down is too much. We are shopped, we have member surveys that are not accurate and forced to sell products the members don’t always want or we are put on PIPs and don’t get bonuses. The source is above the AVPs, they are puppets and one mistreated. You made the choice no need to humiliate. Cleaning house is the motto, no one does a thing about it. The members notice and word gets around the small community we live in. Members want to see employees that know them. It speaks volumes when employees stay to retire. And it doesn’t happen, the Managers and MA’s are forced out.

Good and Bad

Pros

I like that the credit union is involved in the community and allows every employee 5 hours of paid time to volunteer. Also, the organization is not overly sales driven which allows front line staff to not have to be stressed about overly ambitious loan goals.

Cons

There is an overall sense of not being heard by management and just overall poor communication. There is no real progression opportunities for most employees and the credit union is more willing to hire people with no experience than to grow their own employees. For example, an internal employee will have to go through long leadership classes and programs to be considered for a position where an external candidate with no experience will be hired for the same position.
