I loved working with the patients.

Cons

No security. They accept any violent patient despite not having safe guards in place to prevent staff and other patients from getting hurt. I was tired of having to do at minimum 3 restraints per shift. To put things in perspective, I now work at a different facility and have done 2 restraints in the last year. This place left a bad taste in my mouth for a long time. It's simply not safe to work here. They need to hire security and have a safe staff to patient ratio.

Poor Management They accept the worst possible CPS and Juvenile cases, acuity is ridiculous. All day is spend breaking up fights. We did not have the means to manage such kids. Staff constantly getting hit. They expect aggressive 16 year olds to sit down and color for 5 hours of free time daily. Therapy groups were a joke, 5 minute check in sheet and then free time. Constantly understaffed

Pay is abysmal Work can be very difficult, especially when dealing with children who are aggressive Turnover for techs is high, which causes a lot of stress Health benefits are not the best
