      An entry level job that leads to no where

      Pros

      The benefits package for the healthcare plan.

      Cons

      The managers are content with their positions therefore they are not advocates in recognizing lower level employees for promotions. The pay is horrible. The managers do not communicate the reasoning for hour cuts or the need for crosstraining. There is no type of "emotional intelligence" in management. We have employees begging to be moved up because they are now qualified (bachelor's degrees or better) for upper level employment.

      The pay is just OK, it is fun to see and be around all the different pets daily. You must have a passion for pets

      Cons

      This is not your typical retail job, there are many more problems and issues to deal with than any other box since we deal with peoples pets.

      PetsMart is interesting work

      Pros

      Helping customers have healthy and happy experiences with their pets was the number 1 reason to work at PetSmart. The supervisors as a whole were supportive as long as you did very well in your department rating (basically, you do a good job and they were supportive). Just like any company, they were always pushing to increase sales.

      Cons

      The store manager was not a very good manager and that effects morale in a negative manner. I always tried to get the employees to enjoy their job and fellow employees. The pay was okay, but they were stingy with bonuses and raises. Depending on the store manager you may have injuries from working too hard!
