It's a Gamble

Pros

- Free vitamins - Competitive health insurance - Nice Office - Clear ownership and processes - Modern practices and tools - A lot of smart people - You will learn a lot - Stable org, esp with Covid and flu seasons as a driver

Cons

- Don't see a lot of Innovation still or being first to market - Everyone at C-Level is white, I'll never forget when the CEO talked so passionately about BLM and DEI then he promotes two white men to this C-suite and/or leadership team. He completely missed the perception with this move. - DEI was such an "important" theme, but no action or outcome. Don't understand why you would hire a DEI person when this person only recruits. - Most of the people leaders at this org, mostly Dir+, are terrible people leaders. There's some who have very passive aggressive or aggressive communication styles. There's a few good leaders who work in interest of both the business and people, but most end up focusing on how to manage up. Watching these people froth at the mouth and throw fits made me realize there's a different standard on how Dir+ vs everyone else gets treated. Doesn't live up to the very Values they keep posting on every open wall. - VP+ will say one thing, but do another. For ex: Telling people to have compassion and understanding as everyone is running lean and overworked, but when you say I'm drowning due to the workload, the answer is a shrug and "so is everybody else". Then when you resign, they act shocked and try to throw money at you to stay. Money won't solve these problems. - Sites aren't treated as well as Corporate . Corporate has things like baristas come in, fancy espresso machines, frequently catered lunches, etc. I feel bad for the sites. I pretty sure they know they're the ignored stepchildren. - The hours: Expect to be worked to the bone; This org runs lean. You have to work more than the traditional 8 hours and on the weekend to stay caught up because there's always an emergency that happens every week. God forbid you try to take more than a week off bc there's no one with bandwidth to take over your work. Imagine taking a vacation stressed out. It's not a vacation at all. - Too many long tenured people who don't want to or can learn how to do their work efficiently. They are very comfortable in their role, hate any changes, and plan to retire there. It's not even an age thing, it's literally the mentality of "I deserve to coast" from these long tenured people. - Merit and promo increases are a joke. Imagine getting promoted and finding out it's at the very lowest of the range. Wow. What a way to incentivize someone. - And the cherry on top: Being given harsh feedback with zero examples at annual review that you have never heard of in your entire career without a single perf check-in at all. Wow. This was the final incident that drove me to resign.

Pros

Pharmavite is in max capacity growth mode in an industry that also continues to grow decade after decade. As health care becomes more expensive, consumers continue to look to this industry to aid in their wellness journey. 5 years ago when our dynamic CEO came on board, he made it clear that we would have to think differently and act differently if we were going to thrive. We were coasting before that, but if you are coasting, you are going downhill. He changed our executive leadership team for the better and set the stage for profitable growth going forward. Innovation is now forefront on our mind. We have not ignored organic growth, and we were able to grow our business during the challenges of COVID 19 and supply chain challenges. For people looking to join us, Pharmavite has competitive pay, unparalleled benefits, a bonus plan at every single level in the organization, and for those who want it, a free college education. There are multiple leadership and personal development programs available.

Cons

Pharmavite is a medium sized corporation owned by a mega corporation, and sometimes decisions can take a long time as work through layers in a matrix organization. We aren't a hipster start up...though jeans and sneakers are always on point.
