Pros

Opportunity for advancement of the right candidates Decent pay, good insurance Work environment really depends on which store you work at - some are very friendly, family oriented palces and others everyone is just always in a bad mood

Cons

Some lack of communication between store management, merchandisers, and district managers. Often (especially during holidays) everything you do will be changed three different times because someoene doesn't like a specifict thing. Labor is tight but managable.

Pros

Employees at the store level are nice people. Most customers are friendly. Insurance is a good benefit.

Cons

Corporate is like the dictator and the store employees are the slaves. You must dress like a man in a tie and white dress shirt even if you are a woman. You must do exactly what they say, when they say it, and how they say it. Even if it is the most impossible project or plan, or you will get in trouble and threatened to be fired, or fired on the spot. Roundy's does not care about the employees AT ALL. Most Store Directors and Managers live in fear of the newest impossible directive coming down from corporate, and any corporate person walking into the store to bash them daily. Hours have been cut so drastically that it is almost impossible to complete any job successfully. Raises are not based on performance or a job well done. They are once a year and usually anywhere from 1,2, or 3% of your hourly wage. Most people do not get a raise though, they are not guaranteed, and if you do it's probably going to 1 or 2%. Roundy's is taking away hours and dollars from Pick n Save to open more Mariano's stores making Pick n Saves everywhere a miserable place to work.
