Pros

The business stakeholder that I supported was great.

Cons

Unfortunately there was a lot of turn over on my particular team so in the short time that I was employed with Pie things looked very different from the time I joined to the time when I left. I found the leadership team that I worked for to be wildly incompetent. Management on my team lacked the understanding of how to make data driven decisions. I found leadership to be, rude, anxious, abrasive, and emotional in their decision making processes. Pie as a whole has a very simple business model that works for the space that they are in. There are some very bright and talented people who work at Pie but I would not recommend anyone working in my particular field consider Pie as a potential employer.

Pros

Remote. Unlimited PTO. Decent compensation.

Cons

The company went through a RIF in April of 2023. Despite going through a RIF they continued to hire at a rapid pace. Predicting another another RIF this year as they try to reach profitability. Budgets were minimal and reduced even further in 2024. Difficult to work with UW department which experienced constant turnover. Lacked necessary resources to meet the demands and work flows of partners. Despite these disadvantages, goals were increased and expectations were unattainable. Working over time after regular working hours was necessary to keep up with the workload. There's zero compensation for overtime work. Management mircomanaged every part of your day and admin work took away from producing. There were lots of unnecessary internal meetings that took away from production.

Pros

When I started at Pie, I was astonished at how amazing this company was…from leadership to ideology. I felt empowered and lucky to be part of such a company.

Cons

In late 2022, there was a shift which flowed into 2023. Leadership changes, increased workload, no real opportunity for advancement (just promises of it which never come to fruition), constantly shifting priorities, lack of staff, layoffs, more and more upset customers, customers closing accounts…it was a lot. There wasn’t a time when we felt as if we could catch a break. The stress and pressure was just overwhelming. I’m not 100% sure what caused the dynamic change in late 2022, but my heart breaks for the Pie that once was.
