Not a good place

Pros

Was once a good place to work.

Cons

6 rounds of layoffs in 15 months with more likely coming. Clearly, leadership doesn't have a clue what they are doing. Everyone is overworked, underpaid, and there is no job security.

Pros

My manager has helped me grow and strengthen my skillset tremendously. The team I’m on works well together. My salary isn’t the lowest (but isn’t the highest either). The open vacation policy is appreciated.

Cons

SVPs really will meet with your team and tell you to your face that they haven’t heard about any layoffs happening in the near future and will say whatever they have to to lower everyones anxiety levels when they start shooting through the roof because layoff rumors are becoming louder and more frequent. Next thing you know, layoffs are happening and you find out the SVP knew all along and even had a hand in who stayed and who got let go. It’s absolutely trust destroying. I don’t know how they think we won’t find out, especially when one of the Sr. Directors shares and gossips about the salaries of other team members with us. Speaking of layoffs, at least 5 layoffs have happened in the last 13 months. Following each layoff there is usually a small wave of resignations as well. The responsibilities and workloads of those laid off / resigned are spread out among those of us who are still here. However our pay does not increase. Some of our benefits are reduced if not frozen entirely; such as in role promotions, salary increases and bonuses. On top of all that we’re told to expect more layoffs. Morale plummets after each layoff and continually creeps lower every day in between layoffs. My current workload is unsustainable, and even though I’m transparent about that with my manager, there isn’t anything he or the team can do to help. We’re all stretched so thin right now but Pluralsight has nearly impossible goals for us to hit that we’re desperate to reach in hopes of getting some kind of salary increase.

Thank you for the review. I'm glad to hear that you've found value in your manager's guidance and support, as well as in the collaborative environment of your team. I understand your concerns regarding communication around staff reductions and the subsequent impact on trust within the organization. Although we always strive to be as transparent as possible with team members, there are certain things we cannot disclose until we implement them. Sensitive topics like reductions are planned with a great deal of thought and care, and most leaders won’t be looped in beforehand unless their teams are directly impacted. However, I acknowledge the need to continue transparent communication and the importance of rebuilding trust, especially in light of recent events. Regarding compensation concerns, I’d like to call out that the only total rewards program that was paused in 2023 was merit. We ran two promotion cycles, as planned, in both 2022 and 2023 and we also paid a percentage of company bonuses for both years to team members participating in those programs. In the coming months, we’ll run merit and promotion programs to reward team members for their ongoing contributions. I recognize the strain that increased responsibilities can place on teams. I encourage you to continue sharing your concerns with your manager and leadership. By working together, we can identify solutions to ensure that teams are adequately supported and that your contributions are recognized and rewarded fairly. Will Clive Chief People Officer

Pros

I couldn't be more appreciative of my direct manager at Pluralsight, he had my back at every turn. Pluralsight will attract some really genuine, smart people, and I do miss many of my peers.

Cons

I went through three comp plans and one catastrophic accounting failure that affected hundreds of sales people at Pluralsight within one calendar year. Every time I overachieved, seemingly, the comp plan changed. I never got paid commission for 10 months of over achievement and due to the accounting failure, when I departed (not by choice) the Pluralsight team took out of my base pay. I can't say enough horrible things about the leadership at Pluralsight - they fired me when I was applying for medical leave and then rejected my unemployment claims - leaving me sick, without insurance, and without any sort of income. Scoundrels hiding behind tons of corporate speak from fake nice wholesome leaders in Utah. This is probably why 75% of the sales team departed Pluralsight during the year I was there - no one could get paid and leadership simply did not care. Since I have left, there have been many, many rounds of layoffs. Seems like a sinking ship.

Thank you for the review. I’m pleased to hear you had a good experience with your direct leader and felt supported and cared for. After looking into the particular situation you’ve referenced in your review I wanted to clarify a few things. The reason or cause for a termination impacts whether an unemployment claim is accepted. When the reason for a termination differs from what is listed in a former employee’s unemployment claim, we respond accordingly and provide necessary documentation supporting the termination decision. We did experience an accounting issue in the past that affected compensation for sales team members. We addressed this and righted the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused impacted team members. - Will
