Pros

Cool swag. Office would be cool if it wasn't empty / execs looking over your shoulders.

Cons

- RECENT 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE FAKE. As the title of this review states, this company can’t control its own reputation. There's a reason turnover is so high and why employees look elsewhere to further their careers. - If you are applying for a remote position, think twice. The CEO has said himself that remote workers are at a disadvantage. They do not work to incorporate remote workers. - There is no work life balance. In office employee desks were just moved and are all on one floor next to executive offices to be better watched and micromanaged. Employees receive messages from coworkers at 3am consistently. - Manufactured urgency is unbearable. This company will have you thinking that if you do not rush to get things done, you are doing things wrong. Everything is an emergency and sense of importance is lost. - The executives at this company escape all responsibility for their decision making. They are, however, responsible for the palpable sense of fear employees have. I have heard stories of the CEO making passive aggressive comments suggesting people will be fired if they do not do what he says. This awful culture comes from the top down. - Want a promotion? Blindly follow your manager and never think for yourself. - If you love to “hustle”, never take time off, enjoy working for 10-12 hours a day for below market pay, and hate critically thinking about solving problems, this job is for you.

Pros

Design team was great. Role had flexibility, ownership, great devs, and good outlooks. Design leadership is great.

Cons

The C-Suite is a mess. Forcing folks back into the office, not listening to their employees, constant layoffs (I was a part of one), removing employee benefits like 401K matching. The CEO is a loose cannon who constantly complains about employees lack of enthusiasm at town halls and goes on unnecessary and problematic rants. Leadership only cares about the bottom line and their investors.

Pros

Cool perks, decent salary…beautiful office.

Cons

The Podium SaaS product has a ton of bad Google reviews from clients who claim they aren’t seeing the benefit yet can’t get out of their 12 mo contract. Internally, they admit people can’t cancel if under contract. In 2022, Podium was hiring classes of 50+ AEs every two weeks. They end up keeping (roughly) the top 10 and fire the rest within 8 weeks. Of those 10, 5 or or so last beyond a year. You absolutely feel like cattle/just a number. Their training is long-winded & mostly a waste of time. A simple lesson that could be watched via video is stretched into 3, 1-hour long podcasts-like zoom calls. Decent OTE if you hit quota (22% of the organization hit quota in July of 2022.) Instead of reevaluating the quota, management doubles down & takes zero responsibility for having set unobtainable goals that the vast majority of their team cannot meet. AE’s make 40 min cold calls per day and will not be given SDR support unless you’re a top performer (which comes first…the chicken or the egg)? So AE’s are glorified SDR’s, doing their own prospecting. The base salary isn’t sustainable during the ramp period. One of their “rock star” AE’s boldly claimed that Podium has a “less than 2% cancellation rate.” 1) this isn’t true 2) podium auto renews & requires a *one month notice* to cancel prior to the end of the 12 month contract. That’s sketchy & an indicator of how the company culture really is despite the good talkers claiming otherwise. Think The Boiler Room / Bro Culture vibe.
