Worst Organization Structure EVER

Pros

The culture was amazing when we were PeopleAdmin. The former CEO was very personable and transparent and it flowed down from him onto the upper level and middle managers. We had a great time at work and because of that, we worked hard and were passionate about the results.

Cons

When Powerschool took over, there was a very tangible, negative change to the company in so many ways, outlining them would be impossible. The communication between individual contributors and leadership is basically so tightly wrapped in red tape, it cannot exist. Powerschool chokes out their own ability to be productive and successful in unnecessary processes and a severe lack of communication from the top down. I truly feel regret for everyone I helped to get a job there and I hope they get out as soon as they can.

Pros

Getting to work with some really great people. Getting to work on a project that I believe makes a positive difference in the world. Working on technology that is moving forward. (Sometimes slowly, but moving)

Cons

Upper management (Vista) talking out of both sides of it's mouth. One side can't seem to say enough about how much they value their employees, and how "The employees are PowerSchool". The other side is directing rounds of random seeming "layoffs" while hiring new employees in a new office 12 1/2 time zones away. The latest directive is that some (many?) employees on both sides of the pond will be required to participate in daily conference calls at times that they would otherwise be sleeping or spending time with their families. This is no way to treat people you say you value.

To be avoided if at all possible

Pros

I guess this is an okay company for kids right out of college who will work 24/7 for low pay. I can't think of any pros that make them stand out. I take that back, the HSA matching is 150% of your contributions.

Cons

No work/life balance, they expect blood. Low pay. Extremely low glass ceiling. Rifs/layoffs/firings with no warning (unless you count townhalls where they promise you no more layoffs as the warning). Very little training. Terrible communication, conflicting information or NO information, pointless red tape. Management takes away tools and replaces with inferior tools, makes everything we do harder, take longer, and more mistakes (as stuff falls through the cracks).
