Pros

There are none after how they handled their layoff

Cons

They released their employees via a pre-recorded message, some after decades of service. They did not have severance packages prepared and some people have to wait over 10 days to be able to talk to HR (and didn’t know that until over 24 hours after seeing the pre-recorded message) Leadership is chaotic and does not know what is happening to their every day employees Leadership has changed and has been wholly uninterested in learning what we are doing and how we operate as a company, they just assume it is wrong

Pros

- Good work/life balance - Colleagues are for the most part fun and competent - Committed and caring lower level management - Pleasing office aesthetics - Fair compensation

Cons

- It generally feels like there are walls between individuals who work on different products, between people who have come from the different companies that have been acquired, and between people who work in different countries. - The CEO tries to use phrasing & delivery that is I am guessing supposed to keep morale high, even if this means fibbing to hide negative events (like when all the developers in the KC office were laid off and during the townhall when he reported it he said that all those employees were all given the option to work from home to keep their jobs, which was patently untrue). The top level execs push the use of buzzphrases like 'center of excellence' (as opposed to 'office') or 'the empower phase' (instead of 'phase 1'), which feels disingenuous and condescending. - (Perhaps not a con, depending on your perspective) They are in the process of offshoring at least all development & QA, without explicitly acknowledging as much. - Lack of trust in employee productivity when employees work from home - CTO seems to blindly adopt trending industry practices even when they do not fit into the PowerSchool model. - Many of the products are very poorly designed. Non-performant, non-scalable spaghetti code. The solution oftentimes is to throw hardware at the problems since management views refactoring/rewriting as a waste of effort/time.

Pros

Co-workers are great and you can wear jeans to work

Cons

- Pay is way below market - Zero work-life balance - This place does not care about its employees. HR is an absolute joke. There is inappropriate and unprofessional behavior everywhere and nothing is ever done about it, no matter how many complaints - Zero training for new managers - leads to managers who cannot manage and who dont have your back - Company is backed by a private equity firm so all they care about it making money - at the expense of their employees AND their customers - Little to no transparency - shady practices behind the scenes - Products DO NOT WORK - they are constantly selling products that they know are not ready for market and dont work. its all smoke and mirrors

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review! While we have a relaxed and comfortable work environment, we appreciate you bringing awareness to some of the concerns and feedback mentioned. New initiatives are in place to assist with manager training and internal communication within the organization. Adding more resources to our Research and Development and product teams is a way we are ensuring additional solution success as we continue to grow. It is disappointing to hear of the negative working environments and if brought to HR/management attention, we would love the opportunity to address any issues in order to mitigate those concerns and find solutions. We strive and ultimately hope to create an environment where people are valued, heard, and welcomed. We appreciate this feedback and use forums such as this, and employee engagement surveys, to continue to make improvements.
