Great place to work

Pros

Working with at-risk youth, building rapport, great people to work with and for.

Cons

Pay was not enough for the types of crisis and responsibilities at times, especially physically restraining when necessary and supervising and handing out medication, the pay wasn’t enough for the responsibility. It’s a rewarding job but the staff deserve better pay.

Pros

The one and only reason to work in a residential is for the children.

Cons

Not feeling able to gain rapport because once you’re at a certain level, working in group or trying to have in fun with the kids is laughable. The hours. You came in at 7 am and no one is here to relieve you? Well guess you’re stuck until 11 pm now. Salary positions do not provide adequate pay for the demand of that job.
